A Chicken & a Hand-drill

The plan was to leave Lefkas on Sunday. In the morning we would go to the hardware shop for a hand-drill (the electric one is no good unless we’re on shore power) and buy a cooked chicken to give us the basis of a couple of easy meals at anchor. That was the plan …

While we sat with our coffees in the cockpit, lots of passers-by stopped to chat: A couple from Emsworth, at the end of their shorebased holiday who’d seen Chichester on the back of the boat; Two couples who’d spent a month here in their motorhome, who wondered if we’d sailed out from the UK; Mike and Mary, cycling back to their motorhome having visited friends in the marina – they were on their way back to Igoumenitsa to get the ferry; Some friends of MnM who recognised the boat and the new name; A couple I recognised, but couldn’t place until she reminded me we’d chatted outside the mini-market at Cleopatra …. time passed happily.

Eventually we set off for the “Greek B&Q” we’d been directed to. It was a long and interesting walk through the outskirts of town, but we never did find it, and it probably would’ve been closed by then anyway. We would be leaving a lot later than planned, we were tired after our walk. Maybe we’d try again tomorrow – go to the local hardware shop for the drill, pick up the chicken and leave on Monday. After all, we have time now 🌝
