Friday and Saturday are somehow both busy and lazy. It’s difficult to know exctly what we were busy with – tidying, some cleaning, making breakfast and lunch, washing up, some more provisioning (gin and ouzo seem to evaporate quickly here and we’re still building up stocks so we have at least a week’s worth of store cupboard meals onboard.) We’re still mostly eating out in the evenings.
We’re moored next to Shiraz, a lovely couple who are full time liveaboards. He’s an engineer and gives us his card – a useful contact. They are fellow members of the CA (The Cruising Association) which is a great source of information and a good way of making friends. We chat happily from our respective cockpits.
There’s a busy road along the quay, so it’s not a quiet mooring, but there’s lots to see and convenient for shops. Being near cafes, we treat ourselves a couple of times to a takeaway freshly squeezed orange juice – just €6 for 2. I lost count after 7 oranges had gone in! Away from the quay there’s a maze of pretty backstreets to wander through, sooner or later coming out to the main pedestrian street or one of the many squares.

On Sunday there was a small, peaceful, but loud, demonstration along the quay. The main banners said ΠΑΜΕ which is the All Workers Military Front and a number of Che Guevara flags were in evidence. All very good natured.
