After leaving Gouvia on Friday, we stopped for one night in Valtos (Parga) before continuing south to Preveza. Not our usual leisurely pace, you may think, but we had to be in Preveza by Sunday evening to meet our shipmates Mike & Debbie who were joining us for 10 days. We wanted their first impression of LouLouDitsi to be the best possible, so she needed a good clean, above and below decks. And before making up their bed in the forecabin, we needed to find new homes for all the stuff currently stored on it! Some provisioning would probably be a good idea too . . .
We met Mike & Debbie on nearly our last flotilla holiday in 2010. We weren’t going to be ready in time for the meet up before the group meal (what’s new!) So John walked along the quay to tell the lead crew we’d meet them at the taverna. They weren’t on board, so he asked the next boat to pass on the message. Mike said they weren’t going to be ready either, so it was agreed we’d walk up together as we knew the way. The rest, as they say, is history. We went to their wedding a couple of months later, did a flotilla together the following year (going our own way half the time) and then chartered together.
They’ve now moved to a lovely house in the Dordogne and we’ve bought LouLouDitsi, so holidays together are sorted, whether France 🇫🇷 or Greece 🇬🇷. We had a fabulous time at their new home (with newly built pool) in August and we wanted them to be just as admiring of LouLouDitsi and to make them as comfortable as possible in their guest cabin.
“Wow!” was Mike’s perfect reaction from the quay. We settle them in and go for a meal, talking nineteen to the dozen as usual.
Shipmates together again 😄💬🍷⛵
