The End of Season 1

The end of our first season. It’s gone so quickly. And it seems a lifetime ago when we arrived here in April with Mike & Mary who got us off to such a good start. This last month has been overshadowed by the damage from the medicane. We’re still coming to terms with that, as well as dealing with all the resultant emails.

We’ve had a truly fabulous time. We’ve learned so much and know the learning will never stop. We’ve been terrified, relaxed, excited, exhausted, contented, frustrated and happy. We’ve met more people than we’ve met in the last 5 years put together. Above all we’ve felt completely alive.

Rog and Viv, who we met on the IBA pontoon, have kindly offered us a lift to the airport in their hire car. Aktio airport seems to be full of yotties and we’re all talking nineteen to the dozen, about this season, the medicane, plans for next season. Familiar faces are everywhere.

As we take off, John points down to the 3 boatyards beneath us, and we look in vain to see if we can pick out LouLouDitsi . . .

Even with her mast up it would be impossible . . .

And anyway, the tears are now pouring silently down my cheeks.
